Used Cars: Salvage titles, salvage title, pontiac grand prix

Question
I bought a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix for roughly $5,000 from a used car dealer. I was informed that the car was salvage titled but i was not told what that meant. Well it's been about three months since i bought the car and now my engine is knocking and my mechanic tells me that i have to put a new engine in to be able to drive without worrying about my engine blowing on me. We (me and my mom) did some research and found that their was a recall on my car that applies directly to this problem but apparently we can not get the car repaired with the recall because of the salvage title. My question is did the guy i bought this car from do anything wrong if so what and should i pursue legal action against him?

Answer
Hello and thanks for your question. If the dealer disclosed that the car had a salvage title he did nothing wrong. It seems the dealer may have done something unethical by not defining what a salvage title "is" but not illegal. My best advise is to explain your situation to the dealer and see if there is any way he may be able to help with a portion of the repair costs. Keep in mind that he doesn't have to do anything so be polite and cross your fingers.
Sorry I can't be more help for you on this. Good Luck, Shane
