Used Cars: returning a vehicle, jeep grand cherokee, grand cherokee

Question
I bought an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the dealer for my husband last night. (Saturday evening @ 5:30pm) He absolutely hates it. I paid for the whole amount on my visa card. I live in Tennessee. Can I return it since I paid for it on my credit card?

Answer
Hello Melinda, I might not be much help for you in the situation. It is my understanding that you can get the amount taken off your card but not return the vehicle. When you did the paperwork for the Jeep you signed a "Bill of Sale" or "Agreement to purchase". This is an agreement between you and the dealer to buy the car. How you pay for it is up to you, in this case you paid with your credit card. The credit card company will allow you to reverse a transaction(return an item)but the dealer could still demand another form of payment. This is different than buying something from a store like Walmart because at those stores you don't sign a Purchase Agreement or Bill of Sale. The best thing to do is go to the dealership and explain the situation. Take your husband with you and maybe they will let you pick out a different vehicle for the same dollar amount.
Hope this helps, Shane
