Used Cars: missing title, hindsight is 20 20, dmv office

Question
Hi.  I'm writing this because I purchased a used vehicle in May 08 from a small local used car dealership.  The car was sold to me without a title.  In retrospect I don't know why I would ever buy a car without one, but hindsight is 20/20.  The car has had some issues and I have put a fair amount of money into getting it fixed.  It seems to be in good working order now and I'm looking to sell it.  My question is what is the best way to do this?  I also believe the dealership I bought from is doing some dishonest things...should I report these things to someone?  I don't want anyone else to go through this.  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Dan

Contact your local DMV office in your area for advice to obtain a title, here is a link to find an office in your area     http://www.usedcartips.org/DMV.html

The dealeship whom you purchased vehicle from should know whom has got the title or whom may be the registered owner, if there is a lien on vehicle then a bank or other lien holder has got the title and will release title with no liens showing.
contact the state to see who is actually the registered owner right now and who's name the title is in if dealership will not play ball.
