Used Cars: 1996 Pontiac Grand Am, pontiac grand am, grand am

Question
Grand Am has approximately 90,000 miles (purchased in 2004 with only 56,000).  Battery light stays even though we replaced the battery, alternator and belt.

Other suggestions?

Thanks

Answer
Well even though that is relatively low mileage for the age of the car, when cars age, they do start doing some unexplainable things, especially those older Grand Ams.  Now it could just be a glich in the system, but I would get with a knowledgeable mechanic to have the system checked out.  I say this because even though you replaced the alternator and battery, does not mean that they are good parts.  Your average parts store does not sell top of the line parts (mainly in an effort to remain affordable), with that being said you could still have a bad battery, or bad alternator, and it just isnt bad enough to leave you stranded........yet!  It may sound crazy but I promise you it happens a LOT more than the parts stores would like to admit.  That is one reason most of them warranty the parts for a certain period of time, however, most of them do not warranty the labor involved that comes with multiple replacements.  Just get with a good mechanic in the area, and I am sure he will get you fixed up and feeling comfortable with driving your car again.
