Used Cars: Salvage Title, daytona beach fl, salvage title

Question
In Florida, October 2006 I purchased a 1996 Mercedes Benz from a dealer for $10,000. It took the dealer 3 months to give me the reg. tag on the vehicle, which means the 3 month they had to go down to the tag office and get that one as only a dealer is able to get to paper tags and that is it. Well finally January 2007 we received the reg tag, and he handed me a copy of the title as to why it took so long for him to get the plated tag. He stated to me at that time something with the title coming from Utah then to Daytona Beach, FL and then to him in Orlando, FL. Well I did have problems with the car when I first bought it and took it to a Certified Mercedes Machanic and he gave me a list of things that were wrong w/ the vehicle and totalled $3,000 and then I took the list and gave it to the dealer, which he stated somethings as oh well I did already fix this and that. But took the car and only fixed some of the problems.
Well now two years later I still am having a lot of problems with driving the vehicle. As I can't even go over 40 MPH without my steering wheel shaking so bad that it is about to fall off and pulls to the left very bad as well, the brake lights on the dash are always on even after replacing the bulbs in the back, and the check engine light has stayed on as well. The dealer never told me that the car was in an accident or anything and sold me the car without even having the title at first, and I guess the finance company didn't know it as well, I am not sure.
I guess my question would be, if the title is a salvage title and they never dissclosed that to me and sold it to me at the value of suggested retail in excellent condition, but in fact that I didn't know it was salvaged, should I continue paying for it or should I get a lawyer? And now to add fuel to the fire the dealer is no longer there where I bought it.

Answer
Had you done something about this sooner, I think you would have a decent shot at getting something done about it. This far down the road, you dont really have very many options.  You could hire an attorney and see what they say. With the dealer no longer there, I think you have a very slim chance of getting anything done, even if the dealer were still there, I dont think there is much you could do now.  You might call the institution where it is financed and see what they recommend.  If you have good credit, and are trying to keep it that way, you just need to get with a good mechanic and get things fixed. I really think the only chance you have is to get with the company it is financed with and see what they recommend.  And if by chance there is a "Used car Police" in florida, like there is here in oklahoma you could contact them.  Here in oklahoma it is the Used Motor Vehicle and Parts commission, I dont think there is one in florida, but get with a tag agent or someone comparable and try to see if there is, and go from there.  It is not right to sell a salavage vehicle without representing it as so, but obviously we know why they are no longer in business, I just dont think you have much of a legal leg to stand on.  I wish you all the best and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
