Used Cars: Should i buy, friends dad, fuel mileage

hi my name is daniel and im 17 years old. . So i have my friends dad and he's willing to sell me his 1989 nissan 2wheel drive truck for 100 dollars that has 225+miles on it and needs start plugs and somethings wrong with the speedometer, is in ok condition in the inside. and this would also be my first car. so i really need help on this. other than all this it runs fine. and it has never died on him. but again he said to me that the last owner told him that the trucky died in the freeway and then start backup again minutes later.

First and foremost I would give 100 dollars for that type of truck all day long.  Look...small trucks like that are always at a premium, if I had that truck on my lot I would price it at $1995.00 at least, but that is also assuming that it runs good and everything works.  I would buy the truck, and get with a good mechanic that is Import oriented, and get it fixed.  Those trucks will run a very long time, and kick out some good fuel mileage in doing so.  Even if you have to spend about $500 to $800 to make it right,I would do it.  Even if you buy it and a mechanic says it is on its last leg, run it till it dies, it will still have quite a bit of life in it and still worth the $100.  Just make sure you get a good mechanic, imports are not to be worked on by less than qualified mechanics.
