Used Cars: used car/lemon/no warranty, warranty claim, car lemon

Question
If i purchased a used car as is no warranty but they stated they would fix something and i do not have it in writing but they have attempted to fix it and i ask for a guarantee and they do not want to give me one is there some rights or laws addressing this?

Answer
Some states have what is called an "Implied Warranty" which means even if the vehicle was "as Is' and they tried to fix something they have now "Implied" a warranty. However if they charged you any amount for the repair even $1 than this is not going to be considered a warranty claim. The key here is to make sure that the dealer is not charging you for the repair. If they charge you "any" amount than you have no warranty, you are just paying a repair bill no matter how small. You may want to check with your state to see if this is the case. It is the case in Michigan. If they have done any repair work for free than yes you have a case against them to make it right.
