Used Cars: Buying used..., honda odyssey, negotiation process

We are looking for a used Honda Odyssey a few years old and have been in contact with a couple of different places. What are some tips for us to use in the negotiation process because it always seems like they always have the upper hand in the knowledge department when dealing with a price? What kind of leverage can I use to get the best deal and what questions to ask since most of them around here in NY just want to screw you? Thanks.
