Used Cars: Milage of a used car, lengthy time, odometers

Question
Do Auto dealers hide real mileage by changing in the miter in a used car ?

Answer
Well obviously it would be wrong if they did, and I am sure there is some that do it, however, at least here in oklahoma, if a vehicle is over 10 years old, the odometer reading no longer matters.  So with that being said, I would say that most dealers dealing in vehicles with eligible odometers, probably do not do that.  It kind of goes back to buying a used car in general, go with a place that has a good reputation, and a lengthy time in business if you can.  Most of the "fraudulant" activities like that occur in the "lower" end of the vehicle spectrum ie: Salvage yards, Tote-the-Note, and Buy-here-pay here lots.  I do not think there would be a lot of fraudulant activity in the higher end of the spectrum, just because if you are doing business like you should, there is no need to risk it all, for a roll back of a few vehicles, this is my own opinion.  So in a nutshell, I am sure some do, but it would be a very small percentage.
