Used Cars: buying a used car, good cars, corollas

Question
i need some advice on buying a car thats around the 5000 dollar range and has high mpg
and good maintenance and wont break down the next time i drive it

some advices??

A nice civic/corolla - accord/camry would do you well - I found a good shaped corolla locally here for 4200 with only 70,000 miles - You have to look around but civics, accords, corollas, and camry's can be found with under 90000 miles in your price range.. just don't forget to add in what it will cost to register the vehicle - tax,tag,title... this can be pretty expensive.. but they are good cars and very reliable - plus when they do brake - parts are cheap because they are so common.
