Used Cars: Used Car Sale, car sale, recourse

Question
I bought a car for my son at the end of August and on October 12th the car broke down on his way home from college and we had to have it towed the rest of the way. We took the car to the shop and they said the motor is gone and will cost $3,000. We paid 2,200 for it and it only held up a little over 45 days. Do we have any recourse from the dealer we bought it from even though the car was sold "as is".

Answer
Unfortunately you do not.  Now if the dealer has any kind of reputation, he should offer some type of assistance, but  by law, there is nothing that I know of you can do.  It just really depends on what kind of person owns the place where you bought it.  Good luck.
