Used Cars: Selling a use car in another state, illinois dmv, dmv offices

Question
I live in Chicago IL and want to sell my used car to a buyer in Indiana. What are the steps I need to take and what paperwork must be filled out and filed with what agencies to do this?

The car was purchased with a $38k loan from a local Chicago bank, and I have $27k left to pay. What do I need to do if I sell the car for $28k, or if I sell it for only $26,500?

Answer
Hi Sean
I do not know which DMV office your close to as you did not include your zip code, go  http://driversed.com/DMV/illinois-dmv-offices.aspx
you can get forms from DMV or be guided to download, every state has got diff tax laws and guidelines  i therefore cant be specific

Your bank upon request will send you exact payout to release lien...If amount is more than selling price you will pay the diff before title can be clear

If your buying another vehicle go to my website to get some pointers  http://usedcartips.bravehost.com/
