Used Cars: is it wise to buy this car?, ebay co uk, chrysler new yorker

Question
Hi again, and thanks for your quick answer!
However, I think you forgot to answer the second part of my question, namely after how many km a car starts to deteriorate, or even become on its last legs? The reason I wanted to know this because I want to know the car is still suitable for every day use...  By the way I didn't know you could get these for a 'couple of hundred dollars' ???? In that case the buyer must really try to make a profit on this car/

thanks again!

Hello

There is a 1990 chrysler 5th avenue for sale on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-CHRYSLER-NEW-YORKER-5th-Avenue-Chrome-Pack_W0QQitemZ3

The seller says he is already the fifth owner of the car. The car itself looks very well maintained from what I see in the pictures. It also says that it has driven about 172.000 KMs. I'm wondering if it is still safe to purchase this car (4000 pounds) after all the kilometers it has done? After how many kilometers do cars usually start malfunctioning?

Hi Victor
I must say the seller sure knows how to build value into a sale , i read everything only to find the most important missing - the 17 vin numbers ???

I dont know the value of vehicles on your side of the pond, but i can tell you a 1990 Chrys is not considered a classic and if you were to sell one here in mint condition its worth would only be a few hunderd dollars

Without going into detail stay away from buying on the internet go to my website    http://usedcartips.bravehost.com/
navigate to AUCTIONS from there pick up some pointers how to buy a car...when you find one and not 100% sure contact me again with details
Have a great day Victor

Answer
Hi again Victor
Its funny you should get right back to me, i just got off the phone with a buddy whom happens to be from London but sells used cars in Canada, i told him about E-bay and 4000.pounds for a 90 Chrys...thats about $ 8000. to make a long story short he wants to move back to England selling cars and bring with him about 50 - chryslers...lol

Now about your second question
You will find the answers on my website but i will reply...It really comes down to how the vehicle was cared for...i have seen over the years hundred of cars with over 200K- 300K and yet i have seen just as many with half the KM with poor engine's being the same models...
Lets use the 1990 Chrys as an example...with 172K in excellent condition it may go another 172K you cant use a stopwatch and say time is up...If your buying an older car dont let miles come into play - condition rules...Ray
