Trucking: FUEL CARD/ FLEET CARD PROGRAMS, fleet fuel, fleet card

Hi Jim,
I am trying to find a good fleet fuel card for my mix of independent owners as well as employee drivers. I have searched and found 3 like programs and all seem to offer similar things. No fees is obviously a requirement as well as discounted fuel is. What else, if anything, should I be looking for to help one stand out from the others?

Kelly, I would look at things like detailed billing or on-line reporting so you can easily track useage to the truck and driver as well as location.  You also want to look for safeguards to be sure the fuel you are buying is being deliverd into your intended truck.  It's easy to fuel the drivers personal diesel pickup or motor hoime, or his buddy's truck on your card if you don't have proper controls.  Location acceptance is also important based on your geographic operation so get a list from each of where you will have fuel availability.
The major providers will be competitive on most of these issues so it comes down the small things that you see as a value.  And of course if you are disatisfied with your choice you cfan make a change.
