Trucking: Log book entries, log book entries, newberry springs

Question
Is it okay to abbreviate a city name when filling out the remarks section of the grid or must you spell out the whole name of the city, eg., New York City, Newberry Springs, City of Industry, etc?

Answer
Hello John! Great question! I drove for over 18 years, and unfortunately, you do have to spell out the city or town you are in or very close to.  The state or the province can be legally abbreviated. DOT regs are quite clear on that subject!  One of the great challenges when I was a road driver, and especailly out west, was where I had to pickup or deliver a load where their was no town close by, or I was at a rest area, etc... If you have trouble with abbreviating, like Newberry Springs, for instance, contact your fleet manager.
