Trucking: trucks keyed the same, otr driver, satellite radio

Question
Ok, my husband works for a company in PA where all trucks are keyed the same. First off is there a law or rule against this since he driver is an OTR driver and has to pay to put all of his stuff in there such as CB, microwave,TV,inverter, satellite radio,GPS etc. The reason I am asking is when he comes home for a 34 hr reset they are trying to say that he must park in the company lot. When he was hired he was told there is no slip seating of trucks, however he has already come in for a 10 hour break and his truck has been sent out with a temp driver with all of his belongings in it. He has had stuff missing from his truck before also. So we live 8 miles away and he began bring his truck to the house and putting it in our driveway where it stays until he is back on duty. There are many other driver who feel the same way and also take their trucks home with nothing being said to them. One of them live over 60 miles away and parks his in a public parking lot with nothing said. No they are only singling my husband out and keep telling him that he hasto bring it to the yardand when he is not in the truck they will put someone else in it. When he was hired he was assigned this truck and again told there is no slip seating. Another driver who left his truck at the yard had $800 worth of electronics stolen from his truck and the company says they are not responsible for it nor will they allow anyone to put an additional lock or security device on the truck. So my questions are is here anything stating they can't have trucks keyed the same, is the company responsible if items are stolen out of truck while on company lot, isn't this harassment that he is the only one being singled out, do u know a lawyer that can help us? Thanks

Answer
Chrissy, there are a lot of questions here.  I don't know of any law against keying all  of a companies trucks the same and most carriers will slip seat their tractors to get better utilization rates.  Telling you one thing to get you to sign on and then treating you differently and the other actions you describe are no way to keep good drivers.  With the current capacity issues there should be no problem finding a company that treats its drivers fairly.  I you feel that they have broken any laws you should contact a transportation attorney for advise.  Here is where you can find one:http://www.translaw.org/index.cfm?fuse=member_listing
Hope it works out.
