Trucking: Want to start up a hot shot driving business with my truck, federal motor carrier, gross vehicle weight

Hi, I want to use my f150 to start my own hot driving business.  Can you tell what permits i am going to need?  Thank you.

If you will haul "FOR HIRE" meaning you haul property that belongs to other people across state lines regardless of the gross vehicle weight of your truck you will need federal motor carrier authority.

If you haul just within your state you will need state authority.

A dot number is required for trucks that exceed 10,000 GVW>
