Trucking: interstate commerce under 21, god bless israel, homestate

Question
QUESTION: Hi, i am 20 now and will be 21 in two months. I was planning to drive coast to coast as a co-driver. Could i still get a citation for driving under the age? My only concern would be at the weigh station where they check my log book and stuff?.. really need money to pay for my college.. no alternatives.

ANSWER: Hi Joe,

As an Officer in GA, I strongly discourage driving a CMV in interstate commerce until you have a CDL. If you were to get in a wreck and someone dies, you will be looking at prison time even if it wasn't your fault. The court will say the wreck should not have happen, because you should not have been there. You will be at fault no matter the condition. Please, it's not worth it.

QUESTION: Actually i already have a CDL, i got it when i was 18,and have two year experience behind the wheels. It says on my license " may not engage in a interstate commerce until 21" does that mean that i can't drive even a co-driver. Would my log book work out of california. I were to get pull over at the weigh station, could they issue me ticket for my log book being filled out of my homestate.

Answer
Hi Joe,

You can not drive in Interstate Commerce at all. The log book is to be filled out in the time zone of the assigned terminal. An Officer can write a ticket for any violation, it just depends on the officer. If you are licensed to drive in CA, then log the assigned terminal, not the state your from.
