Can a class 7 truck (26001 +) be registered as a class 6 26000 or less)so that no CDL is required

Hi Bill,

It depends, if you plan to use the truck for personal use or recreation, a noncommercial tag can be used and NO CDL is required. If you plan to use the truck to make money and the GVWR is 26001 lbs +, then you will require CDLs. You can still tag the truck at a lower weight, but the drivers license rules goes by the actual GVWRs.
