Trucking: Becoming a freight broker, freight broker training, google search

Question
I would like to become a freight broker, but am not sure of all of the necessary steps that would need to be taken. Do I need some type of certification, do I have to go to school to become a broker? The only thing that I'm sure about is the $10k bond. Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

Answer
Michael, do don't need have a certification or go to school, but you do need to be licensed by FMCSA and you do need to know what you are doing to be successful at it.  Start here: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration-licensing/NewEntrant-faq.asp
Check out this site for the industry organization.  Lots of good info and links.  http://www.tianet.org/
Although training is not mandatory it is relatively available and not too expensive.  Do a Google search on freight broker training and you wind dozens of options to choose from.
Best of luck.
