Trucking: Truck purchase: Skeptical?, freightliner columbia, max mileage

Question
Hi Bob,

I have been approved by a local dealer for the financing of a used truck. But the problem is their financing does not allow me to buy other trucks, only the trucks they sale. I am looking for a Freightliner Columbia , hp500, Engine detroit 60, 10 speed manual transmission, max. mileage: 350, 000, dual bunk bed, etc. Unfortunately, all the Freightliner their have in stock have more than 500, 000 miles on them, which I believe would not be a good deal for me.
Since I could be flexible (if facts allow it), do you think I should fall for another truck (model) their have in stock closer to my preferred category?: For instance, they have Volvo VNL 670, with 323, 000 miles, year 2005, cummins engine, 10 speed ect. Actually, I already drove 2 Volvos as a Company driver: I think they are nice and fancy and driver friendly out there, but I am not sure I like them, especially when I consider as expensive it could be to repair them, and how often they need repair - according to my past and current experience, especially problem related to their ECM. I am a little skeptical and I need to move on since I have a very good plan.

Please advise.

Regards.
Don

Answer
Hi Don.

By all means, move on!  They just want to sell you their trucks (probably with a super high interest rate)!  If they'll finance you, someone else will too.  Find that Freightliner you want.  Here are two links that should help you...

I would shy away from the 500k plus miles trucks.

Good luck!
