Trucking: CDL, trucking school, schneider national

Question
My husband obtained his CDL w/ a trucking school and passed his road test the first time in MA.  It seems as though every employment listing (except for OTR's) requires a clean driving record (not good, but clean).  He has a DUI on his MA driving record from 15yrs. ago and other than the fact of only 7 months experience.  Every job he applies for he submits a copy of his driving record as requested and he gets turned down and told keep going the way your going and do not get into any accidents, etc.  Obviously he was given a CDL A-XT by the State of MA and passed a background check by the DOT in order to have the XT.  As for employment w/ driving that have unions, he was basically told don't bother due to the DUI (from the few that he interviewed with).  Unions will not consider hiring anyone w/ a DUI no matter how old it is, but was told they were trying to change that stipulation and probably wouldn't be for 2yrs.?  He is currently working for someone driving all kinds of trucks (dump truck/trailer, live-floor, roll-off)who has given him a chance, but the pay is horrible and no benefits.  Granted the fact that he is getting experience, will he ever be able to obtain a better position elsewhere due to his DUI?  Your thoughts/ideas?  Thanks

Answer
Is he looking to stay home daily? Unless he talks to container haulers, he might have to go OTR. Big companies like Schneider National and Heartland can run him up and down New England and be home once or twice and weekends.
What happened with the trucking school? they usually have companies knocking down their door to grab the grads?
