Question
QUESTION: Hi,

I was starting up my own car hauling biz and was wondering about dot regulations and things i will be hauling a 3/4 car hauler on a dodge 3500 4x4 diesel and was wondering if i needed anything else besides insurance on the vehicle trailer etc. Also do you need a class a licence to haul my trailer is a 4 car belly load around 46' long

ANSWER: Hi Dwayne.

You might need a Class B CDL, depending on your gross weight.  Don't forget to get a DOT number too.  Contact your state's Department of Transportation for help.  They'll get you legal.

Good luck!

QUESTION: For a class b how old do you need to be im located in southern california also pulling a for car hauler with the dually about 46' long belly load or can you keep a class a and go on with it im starting my own company and will have family/friend workers driving can you put it as like a private company and do it that way and pass up the scales?

Answer
Hi Dwayne.

I know you need to be 21 for a Class A CDL and I'm unsure about a B.  Contact the DOT.  Even as a private company, you'll have to stop at the scales.  The only way is if your registered as an RV or non-contract carrier.

Good luck!
