Trucking: Hot Shot Logging, bob stephens, driving time

Question
We have a driver that owns his 1 ton non ICC pu which he uses for personal use but drives under our authority.  Can he end in one town and start in another town without logging any on duty or driving time?

Hi Micki.

If he ends a load at point A and has to deadhead to point B to pick up another load, then he must log it as driving time.  The only exception is if he's not doing anything for the company and it would be on his own time.
