Trucking: Why do truckers always pick at J.B.Hunt Drivers, otr companies, bob stephens

Question
I'm not a trucker, yet!  I drive a bus for my band, and want to break into trucking.  After being around quite a few truck stops over the past 10 years, I'd like to know why truckers are always ragging and joking about J.B. Hunt drivers.  I'd like to go to school and drive for a company, but I'm worried about all the crap I'll have to take as a newbee working for a company like J.B.

Answer
Hi Donnie.

JB Drivers and Schneider drivers get ragged on a lot.  They hire the most new drivers and, as you might guess, that helps in their reputation.  They are also two of the largest OTR companies.  The bigger you are, the easier the target.  When you hire so many new guys, many accidents will happen.  Their trucks use to be governed at 55 mph, not that long ago.  Besides taking a week to get across a single state, it would hold up traffic sometimes and other drivers got mad.

My advice is work for someone like US Xpress.  I drove for them and they take new drivers.  Their reputation is a lot better, I believe.  There are a lot of other companies out there.  Go to www.bubbajunk.com or www.classadrivers.com and do some research.

Good luck!
