what do dispatchers do

Depending on what type of operation it is, dispatchers set up loads given to them by sales or other dispatchers and/or freight brokers. they set up for the day or week and plan with the driver that will optimize service for delivery. sometimes they will help drivers with family or personal issues or relay messages to and from other drivers. It is a very stressful and demanding job, which has a high turnover rate and are very expendable. a drivers livelihood can be a "make or break" depending how he or she can get along with the dispatcher or "Driver Manager". Mind you, many really don't care about anything but getting paid, but there are many that cares. Good Luck!! Mike
