Trucking: car hauling, bob stephens, car hauling

Question
Is there a school that can give me a course in car hauling?
I've been driving for eight years, I have my own truck and would like to try auto transport. I would like more education on how to do this. I know it is a specialty field and I won't try it without having some knowledge in it. I heard there might be a school in Florida. I live in Connecticut.

Answer
Hi Tony.

I'm not aware of any car hauling course in Florida.  That's not to say there isn't one, but you might contact the Commercial Vehicle Training Association (www.cvta.org) for more help.

With eight years under your belt, I think you'd pick it up really fast.  I know quite a few car haulers and they all learned by the seat of their pants and asking other haulers a ton of questions.

If you were looking to lease out with a company, many of them offer their own training with qualified owner-operators (such as www.exoticcartransport.com).  You should call them and talk to them, even if your not interested in driving for them, to see what they offer in training.

Good luck!
