Trucking: THINKING ABOUT IT, rabbit ears, company trucks

Question
DO COMPANY TRUCKS SOMETIMES, NEVER, HAVE CONNECTIONS FOR PERSONAL P.C.,T.V.,ECT??

Answer
Hi Brian.

Every company is different in what they offer.  The last, big, OTR company that I drove for had shelves to hold a tv and clothing, but that was it.  They would, however, install an inverter for free that the driver provided.  I did that and ran a small toaster oven and fridge off it.  Again, depending on the company, they may have a pullout for a computer and that would be about it.

Most of my guys run simple rabbit ears and buy a small inverter that plugs into the electrical outlet in the sleeper.  I don't think any of them have a laptop.  I do have a friend that got a mounting kit for his laptop that is just off the dash.  He runs GPS on the laptop and with the huge screen, it is impressive.

My advise would be to try and get a hold of someone in maintenance and ask them what they have in the trucks.  I say this because recruiters don't have a clue most of the times.  This way, you'll be more prepared.

Good luck!
