Trucking: Intrastate MCC number?, state authorization, transportation consulting

Question
J.P.,

I read your reply below where you explained the MCC number.  I didn't realize that was only required for Interstate work, what if a company only hauls Intrastate.  Is there typically a State Authorization that is issued (Indiana in this case)?  Or not.

Thanks,  Dave

The MCC Number is the Fedral Permit that makes you legal to operate "for hire" in more than one state. In other words, if one charges for hauling and run in more than one state, he will need an MCC number.  I happen to operate a Transportation Consulting Office, and one of my services is to obtain MCC number for clients.

Answer
Hi Dave, Since I am not familiar with Indiana intra rules, I can only refer you to their website and phone.

I know South Carolina has an in state authority that cost only $25.00 per year.  Good Luck . J P
