Trucking: husband starting, trucking school, personnaly

Question
My husband leaves tonight for MTC trucking school.  He has been prehired by STAR.  He was told that he would be making $.28/mile to start and would be home 3 out of every 4 weekends.  I am very nervous because we will be out of income for three weeks while he trains.  Is STAR a good company and is there a lot more cost to driving, such as gas, insurance, etc. that will reduce the .28 down to like .08?  I am concerned that he will be bringing home like $300/week and we will lose everything.  Can you reassure me or give any advice?

Answer
Hi Mrs. Ford, As far as I know STAR is a good company to work with.  I have not heard any bad news about it. I am not familiar personnaly with the company. His income will be somewhat low to begin while in training and with a trainer first few weeks.  Once he goes on his own he should bring home atleast 5 -600.00 a week or more. Good luck and GOD Bless.  J P Long
