Trucking: truck weight station, moving to florida, safe side

Question
We are moving to Florida and renting a 15 ft or 22 ft truck.  they told us the 15ft can hold 2600lb. We can fit our stuff in it but think we will be over 2600lb.  do we have to stop at the weight stations along the interstate in IL,KY,TN,FL,GA,.  Will we be over weight and get a ticket or are we not understanding the weight station requirements?

Answer
Hi Mary,
I believe the weight limit on the 15 footer is based on the license.  I suggest you go with the 22 footer which should be licensed for more weight.  The cost should not be very much more and you would have more room for your belongings.  This is best advice I can offer without knowing more details on licesened weights, etc. Good Luck.

PS  Suggest go thru weight stations to be on safe side. \
