Trucking: Truck Filings, federal motor carrier, mc number

I am trying to get a good understanding of what filings are for and what they require. What the ICC and E filings?

Hi Dan, Sorry for the delay in giving you an answer to your question. I just received your request.
The filings for your own operating authority are:
DOT NUMBER, requested from the Federal Motor Carrier Authority
An MC number from the Federal Motor Carrier Authority.
In order to get these, you must have an insurance agency make an insurance filing as proof that you have required insurance. Also a Process Agent filing has to be made.
