Truck Repair: cummins m11 fitted to an erf lorry, exhaust temperature, exhaust manifold

My lorry developed a noise that sounds like a pinking on one cylinder only,along with a very strong diesel smelling smoke. The smoke is light grey in color have you any suggestions

Try to indentify the cylinder from which the unusual sound emanates. You can also short out your injectors one by one to verify if you have problem with either injector or any of the cylinders. check if you a wetness on the exhaust manifold and probably the cylinder exhaust temperature.

you may have a problem with injector or valves on cylinder head or piston problem.
