Truck Repair: BLOW BY, excessive blowby, combustion space

Question
I HAVE AN 2005 FRIEGHTLINER CENTURY WITH 60 SERIES ENGINE WITH 493,500 MILES MY PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE EXCESSIVE SMOKE BLOWING OUT OF BREATHER TUBE UNDER ENGINE,THANKS.

Answer
Nick,
Excessive blowby is an indication of excessive escape of gas from combustion space. This can be as a result of
1. Worn out piston rings
2. Worn liner sleeve
3. crankshaft bearing starved of lube oil if the blowby comes with white colour.

I advise you carry out a blowby check to confirm if it is excessive and if so, I recommend an engine overhaul.
