Truck Repair: battery problems, battery gauge, turbo diesel

Question
I keep having problems with my 1994 chevy c2500 turbo diesel not starting. The batteries, starter and alternator are all less than one year old. Some days it will start fine, then later in the day it will not start at all. I have had both the batteries and the alternator checked and they all come back ok. Also, what should the battery gage on the instrument panel read? Should it be around half way, or all the way? Its range is from 9-16.

Answer
Hi john,
The battery gauge should read in excess of 12V all the time the engine is running to indicate that the system is charging.
It is difficult to figure out what the problem with your chevy is as you did not provide enough info on the negne condition.
