Truck Repair: celect plus, ambient pressure, pressure sensor

Question
i have a n14 celect plus that we replaced the engine. now seems to retard timing when intake temp reaches 70 degrees + and runs terrible. white smokes and stumbles at idle and cruise. runs very well when temp is below 70 at intake sensor

Answer
Hi Scott,
have you performed a cylinder cutout test...verify it is the entire engine not just one hole. are there any codes? it may be the ambient pressure sensor going bad. you are going to need a cummins manual to troubleshoot this properly. there are specific procedures for testing these sensors. sorry I can't help out more but without a manual we're kinda hooped as I'm sure this is electronic.

good luck,

Matt
