Truck Repair: F250 diesel power interruption, power interruptions, power interruption

Question
i have a 2002 F250 7.3L powerstroke diesel which has intermittent power interruptions every time it rains. what in the world?

Answer
Hi Rick,
Verify your batteries are in good condition, if they are at all low(have them load tested or check them with all your lights and stereo on, they should not go below 12.6v approx.) they will not get enough power to the fuel control module and shut the engine down. Next, check the valve cover gaskets, the harness for the glow plugs,injectors..etc. get fried on these engines. also, inspect the crank position sensor and see if it is within spec. (specifications are required for this so you'll have to find a manual..I think haynes makes one). this is common complaint with these engines.. if you go to a powerstroke enthuiest forum you will probly find someone who had a similar problem and how they fixed it....but try the items I mentioned first.

Good luck,

Matt
