Truck Repair: 2001 chevy truck, abs brakes, chevy truck

Question
I have an 2500 HD Chevy 2001 extended cab pick up 4X4. I have a problem with my ABS and brake light coming on. I had it in for service and they told me the computer told them it was a faulty ground wire on the frame of the truck for the ABS brakes. They wanted 100 dollars to fix and I thought this was a little high for a ground wire so I thought I would replace the bolt myself. My problem is they would not tell me where the brakes are grounded Any idea on where this is located. Thanx Jeff

Answer
Hi Jeff,
I'm not sure about that specific wire, but usually they are actually grounded to a bolt on the intake manifold, either the thermostat housing, or at the rear of the right head where a ground strap from the head to the firewall connects.
Make sure that ground wire is there.

Another thing that can make it act like that is if the stop light bulbe in the light above the rear window are blown.
