Truck Repair: engine stutter, chevy k1500, test port

Question
I have a 1992 chevy k1500 4x4. It runs good and everything but it stutters. It will be at and idle and every 5 or 6 seconds it will act like it has a stuttering problem, also while im driving at low rpms it has no power and then all of a sudden it takes off. On occasion when it shifts it falls flat on its face. timing and everthing is good, also has tune-up, no check engine light. Usually do most of the work but this has me boggled.

Answer
Hi Curtis,\
If it is throttle body, it should have 13 PSI.\
There is a port on the fuel line near the throttle body on trucks a few years newer than 88. I don't know exactly what yours has.
If it doesn't have a test port, there is a device that fits in place of the filter, under the truck, with a test port.

You can borrow a tester from Autozone.

If the pressure is low, the pressure regulator may be the problem. To make sure, squeeze the return hose with some padded vise grips to see if the pressure comes up.

If the pressure stays low, then the pump is possibly bad.
I have, however, seen the hose INSIDE the fuel tank, where the pump connects to the line, actually split open, and spray most of the pressure inside the tank.

But if the fuel pressure stays at 13 or so while running, and especially during the stutter, then fuel supply isn't the problem.

Sounds kinda like a loose electrical connection, or a sticking valve.
