Truck Repair: Hard starting Cummins N14 Plus, cummins n14, cummins m11

Question
Hi,
I have a Cummins N14 Plus that seems to crank a long time before it will start. I have had it to Cummins and they eliminated the large water fuel separator and check the various lines. But it still takes a while for it to start. I also have a Cummins M11 and it fires right up. So< I kind of compare the two which I probably shouldn't. Anyway is there anything I can do to help this truck start quicker. Someone suggested running a different kind of fuel filter to hold the prime better. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Answer
The FS1000 has a metal tube made in the filter to help this problem. Also need to check to see if it has a check valve in the ECM cooling plate outlet lineIt is made in the fitting the fuel line goes to.Remove fitting & check it.If it is not one there get one and install it.
