Truck Repair: 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 - wont start, dodge ram 1500, fuel gauge

Question
my truck was running great other than the fuel gauge not registering accurately so I removed the fuel tank to change the fuel sending unit, when I replaced the fuel tank, my truck would not start. It cranks but will not start, when I pour fuel directly into the intake it starts then dies out when out of fuel. Please advise to what the problem could be.

Thank you very much,
Eric

Answer
Hello Eric,
The pump is in the tank, and it is possible the ground connection, or the electrical connection didn't get back connected.
If you turn the key to run, you should hear the pump run for a few seconds.
If it doesn't, check the fuse, then check those wires.
In the event that it does run, make sure you didn't connect the hoses backwards.
