Truck Repair: startup problem, electrical interference, code 369


Question
i have a 2001 dodge 24valve 5.9 cummins when i start it white smokes and misses until i rev and clear out after that it runs perfect this happens every start  i have replaced lift pump with new intank upgrade all fuel lines from tank including returns completely replaced vp44 pump replace all injectors and can not seem to fix problem i have one code 1690 that says crankshaft dont agree with fuel timing  have replaced all sensors on engine and nothing has change any help with this would be greatly appreciated thanks   andy garris  252-289-5612

Answer
That fault is fault code 369 saying it is not seeing the engine position signal from pin 18 of the ECM harness to the VP44 controler.Will post this afternoon things to check.
Causes of fault 369 are the engine speed sensor(mounted in block near starter),electrical interference(bad alternator),clean battery & chasis grounds,try running a seperate ground wire from alt casing to battery negative.
I havent done more than replace the ESS because most time I had that code it had a 115 code with it.
