Truck Repair: 94 Ford F350 7.3 Diesel, ford f350, rear brakes

Question
I am a small shop owner and we put a msater cylinder on a customers car.  He is now sueing us., claiming that the push rod in the center of the brake booster was 1/8 out of adjustment when we put on the mas. cylinder.  This caused his rear brakes to lock, burning up his brakes and transmission.  So now he wants us to pay $2,800 for the repairs.  I think the shop he had it towed to feed him this so they could get the sale.  All I want to know if this is possible?  We are an honest company and just don't want to be scammed.  Can you help?

Thanks,
KIM

Answer
Hello Kim,
I doubt it. Sounds more like it was driven with the parking brake on.
As for the transmission, the brakes on shouldn't burn one of them up.

I have three F450's in my fleet, and two of them have burnt the transmission up, and no association to the brakes.

One was on a trip, and the dealership it was taken to said they didn't have a cooler connected.
They installed one after the tranny repair.
We have since had the other upgraded also.

One of them had previously cremated its transfer case, for no apparent reason, while under warranty. No cause was given for that.

I can't say it is impossible, but I think it is highly improbable that the master cylinder caused any of the problems.
