Truck Repair: 2004 6.0 powerstroke, rough truck, accelerator pedal

Question
Eric,

My 2004 F250 powerstroke has been in for service 3 times to try and diagnose the same problem.  They say that it's not giving them a code to work with.  After the truck has reached it normal operating temperature and is turned off, it will SOMETIMES not restart.  This happened 3 times over the past 4 months.  The very next day (after being towed to the dealer) it starts without a problem.  The engine will spin and sometimes idle very rough and stall.  Accelerator pedal is dead when the engine runs rough.  Truck is service regularly, including fuel filters.  Has 50,000 miles.  I asked about cam position sensor, but Ford says that's a 7.3 powerstroke problem (not 6.0).  Have you ever heard of this?  Do you have any suggestions on what could be causing this to happen.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks Eric!

Answer
I have 3 trucks with the same engine that have similar problems -- on 2 of the trucks a fuel distribution block has cracked -- and on the last truck the fuel pump was intermittenly doing what yours is -- it finally quit and the pump was replaced --- all three trucks are now fine --

As for codes -- my trucks did not show codes -- The dealer will have to put an experienced diesel mechainc on the job
