Hi, I'm 17 and just got a 2001 4x4 S10 in July. its got 43000 miles on it and it had a 3 months, 3000 mile warranty and i should of let them check it but i didn't. i was just wondering why my heater isn't very hot. its getting colder outside and i would like to be warm. also when i got my hazards on they work just fine, but when i push on the brake they stop blinking but they stay on...please help me i really don't have much money so i really don't want to pay for a mechanics bill

Hello Luke,
You may need to flush the heater core and supply hose. It is also possible there is just an air pocket in the heater.
Check both heater hoses, and see if they get hot about the same time.

The brakes stopping the flashers....I think you will find that is normal. The turn signals still flash with the brakes on, don't they?

Answer
Pull the heater hose from the intake manifold, and start the truck, and see if a good full flow comes from that fitting.
You can actually follow the hose to the heater core fitting, and take it off there, so you have the hose to point the coolant.

If it flows coolant there, replace it, and remove the other heater hose, and see if coolant is flowing through the heater core.
If not, flush out whichever doesn't flow coolant.
