Truck Repair: Removing Tailgate, dodge ram 2500, deg angle

I have a '03 Dodge Ram 2500 and I cannot figure out how to remove the tailgate.  I am guessing there is a trick to this that I don't know about....and I'm hoping you do.  Thanks,

you should be able to unsnap the cables and then only let it down about half way "when looking from the side should be about a 45 deg. angle " then lift out one side i think it is the pass.side first but might be the drivers side.
then pull out the other side that sould be all thats to it
now if there is metal rods on it instead of cables in the down posi. lift slightly and push in on the rod then unhook.let me know how this works thanks for the question.
