Truck Repair: Getting a basket case running again, head gasket, diesel mechanic

Question
I bought a 2004 Dodge truck with the HO engine very cheap because the head was off it.  My project is to get it running.  The rear tires were bald and it has Banks exhaust and 6 gun and speed loader so I can guess why the head was removed.  I can't contact the former owner because the truck was a repo.  My dad was a diesel mechanic and I worked at his shop summers and I work on my own cars.  Dad retired before computers in diesel engines.  4 valves were removed from the head, pistons look good, no scoring in the cylinders.  My plan is to get the head professionally rebuilt, re-install it, and try to start the engine.  Should I take the injectors in?  Is my plan sound?  Is there something else I should do or look for?  Thank you for taking the time to help people like me.

Answer
Those have electronic injectors so finding someone to check them will be almost impossible.I would get the head checked & then reassemble. The electronics are no big thing. It should crank right up after you prime it.I think the only trick is finding which head gasket it takes. There are 2 different ones but you should get both in a head gasket set.If you have the old one that would makes it easy to figure out which one it takes.
