Truck Repair: Truck cuts off/ Head gasket leak, head gasket leak, cummins n14

Question
I have a 98 century with a cummins n14 plus, for the last several weeks when I'm at home and I let the truck sit for 10 to 12 hours I go to crank it the truck will run for about five minutes then cut off. When I crank it again it shows two faults one says low voltage and the other is an active fault that reads fuel shutoff short, but after 3rd crank truck runs fine,it only does this when I'm home and the truck motor has completely cooled down. I do not have any problems when I'm on the road and cut the truck off to unload at customers the truck will crank up fine and it usually takes 1 to 2 hours to unload.I have a brand new altenator, fuel
pump, and a silinoid. But, I think I have one bad battery could that be what is causing the entire
problem? Eveytime I crank the truck it says low voltage no matter what. My gauge shows 12 to 13 volts when I go to crank it.After the truck runs it shows 14 volts. Also, my front head gasket is leaking oil.A mechanic told me it was going to cost me about 1400.00 to replace it if he doesn't
encounter any other problems.I have about 700,000 miles on it.It uses about 3 to 4 gallons of oil between oil changes.Would it make sense to have
an inframe done instead of just replacing the head gasket?

Answer
I would have all the head gaskets replaced & check liner height.Should be 0.004-0.007.If it they are low Cummins makes a 0.002 shim for the top of the liner.I would check the unswitched battery wiring(if engine light fault code) & grounds on the frame for Vehicle ECM fault.I would not overhaul it unless you calculate that the oil consumtion is excesive.I dont know the specs right off my head but they calculate it by how much in how many mile assuming there is no external leaks.
