Truck Repair: 2.2 GM injection trouble, dead hole, head gasket

Question
I have a 99 2.2 GM truck. I've just replaced the head gasket, had the head surfaced and a valve job done. It has 150 plus compression in all cylinders but number three which has 120 due to the fact that the clylinder is washed with fuel and the plug is soaked. I have spark on all plugs,(new coils, wires and plugs). While it runs, it has a dead hole (#3). All the injectors are cool to the touch but, #3 is hot. I have replaced this injector no change.
Can the module have this affect?

Answer
Hi Steve,
Good description.
One of the wires on each injector has battery voltage when the key is in run.
Check the OTHER wire on 3, as well as some of the other injectors, and see if it shows ground. That wire may just be shorted somewhere, and if it is grounded, that injector will stay wide open all the time, and will flood that cylinder, as well as ruin the catalytic converter before long from the raw fuel burning there, in stead of in the cylinder.

If the wire isn't grounded between the injector and the ECM, then the ECM could be bad.
The ECM completes the ground circuit of the injectors, but it should be pulsed, not just grounded.

That HOT feel could sure indicate that injector is just staying energized, so good catch. You are for sure in the right area.

As for the low compression, it might have burnt a track around the rings, but it might also just be due to the gas washing the oil away on that piston.
