Truck Repair: Cummins Injector setting, plunger spring, torque wrench

Question
Engine has A,B,&C marks and a 1-6 mark past the C mark. I believe the plunger an spring are on top of the injector(but below the hold down plate). So you think that the .011 and .023 on the tag for valve lash are wrong? And need to torque em dowm 60 inlb?   thanks

Question -
I have a 1976 ntc350 eng#10562053,cpl 160. I need injector setting instructs. The plate says .011 int--.023 exhst, injector travel .170. I assume I need to back out the screws .170 but I dont know from where. I tried the 5-6 in-lb finger tight setting but they need to be considerably tighter than that for the engine to run. Im getting conflicting info from my manuals.

thanks   Al

Depends on what type injector you have.I thinking on that Jun 28,1976 built engine it has PT injectors meaning the plunger spring protrudes above the inj body.A Top-Stop injector the plunger & spring are inside the injector & it would say Zero Lash on settings. On those type injectors you bottom them in the cup(torque wrench to 60 inlbs). But the way you adjust them is valves & injector set on the same letter, meaning set valves & injector for 2-5 on B instead of A.Well that engine probly has a VS 1-6 marks instead of A,B,& C.So the best way to tell you how to adjust those is ie.. Turn engine on VS 1-6 and adjust 3 or 4,turn to VS 2-5 and adjust 1 or 6,turn to VS 3-4 and adjust 2 or 5.Set valves on 0.016 & 0.029.

Answer
Well Im thinking it has PT injectors. The injector WILL be below the holdown while injection is going on.I could not find what actual injector it had, just part numbers for replacement parts with no pics. The 0.011 & 0.023 are standard valve settings for the newer TS injectors where you set valves on one cyl & inj on the next one in firing order wit hthe 5-6 in lb torque wrench.
The settings I said is for you to torque injector DOWN to 60 in lbs then adjust valves to 0.016 & 0.029 on the same cyl.Since you do have A,B,C then A is 1-6,B is 2-5, & C is 3-4.
